On January 10, 2014, Companies 16 (Yeadon) 19 (lansdowne) 24, 04 (Darby 1) and R.I.T. 03 (Clifton Heights) were dispatched to the 900 block of Bullock Avenue for a building fire. Police reported a working fire on the second floor. Engine 16 went on location reporting a 2-1/2 story twin with smoke showing from division 2 and went in service with a 1-3/4 handline. A quick knock was made by Engine 16. Engine 24 was on location in the rear and assisted with ventilation and overhaul.

On December 31, 2013 at 04:50 hrs, Company 19 (lansdowne) and Quint 03 (Clifton Heights) were dispatched to the unit block of West Stratford Avenue in Lansdowne for an automatic fire alarm. Moments after dispatch, police were on location reporting fire showing and had subjects on the roof. The assignment was then upgraded to a working fire adding company 20 (Drexel Hill) and R.I.T. 56 (Manoa). Company 24 and 16 were added for additional manpower. On 12-3-13, at 0054 Hrs, East Lansdowne was special called to 621 Main
St in Darby Borough on the working building fire. Engine 24 made the response with 3 FF's under the command of Captain Castellano, and Main Street Command
(Kunkle) requested the crew from engine24 to open the roof. Interior crews fought fire on both floors of the two story single with several hand lines. Engine 24 cut a large hole on the Alpha side for ventilation, and other members assisted on the interi... [ more ]

On 11/13/2013 around lunch time, The Darby Borough Fire Company #1 was dispatched to 123 S. 5th St. to find fire showing from the second floor of a two story twin. Engine 24 staffed with 3 FF's, was dispatched on the 2nd alarm for manpower. Engine 24 split crews and took position on Division 2 and the roof assisting crews as needed. Darby F/F

On September 10th, 2013, East Lansdowne Borough in conjunction with the Fire Company approved to order a 2014 Pierce Arrow XT Pumper. Engine 24 will be equipped with a 450 horsepower Detroit Diesel Motor, a 1250 GPM, single stage Waterous pump, and 500 gallons of water. This new engine will replace our 1991 E-ONE. We would like to thank the borough council for their support and to the apparatus committee.

On August 1st, two additions were made to the tactical line officers staff. Steven Castellano Jr was promoted from Engine Lieutenant to Engine Captain. Steve has been with the Company since 2004, and also serves as Vice President with the Board of Directors. Zachary Peascheck was promoted from Firefighter, to 1st Engine Lieutenant. Shortly before lunch time, the Upper Darby Fire Department was
dispatched to the 400 Block of Croyden Rd for a working house fire.
Engine Company 26 was on location with a 2 story EOR, fire showing
second floor. Crews made a good knock on the fire, but it had a good
head start and was extending through numerous voids throughout the
structure. Engine 24 was special called to assist, as the 1st in crews
were easily becoming fatigued by the scorching 95+ outside temperatures.

On 7-13, shortly after 4pm, Engine 24 was dispatched to the Unit Block of Legion Terrace (Lansdowne Borough) for a house fire. Engine 24 hit the street quickly with 7 firefighters and was advised by Police of a working fire. Upon arrival, Engine 24 laid a 3" supply line and reported a 2 story twin, wood frame 18X35, fire showing bravo and charlie side, 1st floor extending upwards. Once again, the Fire Department participated in the annual Fourth of July parade and festivities, which have been an integral part of the Borough for over 100 years. This year, the Fire Department presented the "Thomas J. Pearlingi Jr Community Service Award", to Council President George Bobnak. On Saturday, June 29th @ 15:34 hours, the Engine Company was dispatched to assist Lansdowne with a dwelling fire at 49 E. Stratford Avenue. Engine 24, with D/C Carr on board, hit the street with 4 and was informed of smoke showing by first arriving Police Officers. 24-9 (Johnson) went direct and was the first chief on the scene of what proved to be a basement fire.
